Wow Druid Strengths and Weaknesses
By admin | December 4, 2008
The WoW Druid has a lot of versatility. A WoW Druid can be a tank, DPS, or healer. As a Druid you are forced to select one of these roles and specialize to be truly effective.
Specced correctly, a Druid can tank as well as any class. A DPS specced Druid with equivalent gear will be close to Mages and Rogues in damage done. The same applies for healing and ‘pure’ healing classes.
What the WoW Druid brings that other classes may not have is a little bit of extra utility. A damage-dealing Druid in Cat form can make a quick switch to caster, rezz a fallen teammate and slap a heal or two on them, and then return to the fray in Cat form. The Rogue and the Mage can’t do that!
A Druid’s weakness comes in depth of the chosen role. While a Cat Druid can keep up with a Rogue in damage, the Rogue has more options for doing that damage. The same applies for healing and tanking.
Melee Druids possess the glaring weakness of low mana pools. Shapeshifting requires mana, and Feral (melee) Druids have low mana. Healing and range damage Druids can specc and gear to negate this weakness.
Suggested Professions
Leatherworking/Skinning is a good profession combo for a Druid. WoW Druids wear leather armor, so making your own gear until you start raiding can really be handy.
Another good combo for a WoW Druid is Alchemy/Herbalism. Druids have the best mobility of any class in the game, so harvesting herbs (or ore for that matter) is quickly and easily done. Alchemy helps buff a Druid’s weaknesses, such as adding stamina to Cat form or damage-dampening to Bear form.
